Making A Covenant With God
Making a Covenant with God ~ The foundation of God’s word for the theme of our meditation is taken from the book of 2 Chronicles. These are the words of the Lord: “Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel; so that His burning anger will depart from us” – 2 Chronicles 29:10.
The
true meaning of the word “bind” is to use a rope to unite or become one. In
relation to the text above, King Hezekiah binds himself and his people into a
covenant with God.
Hezekiah
knew that his people were not loyal to God and were doing what was evil in God’s
eyes. You are separated from God. All this angered God, who gave them into the
hands of his enemies. Many of their ancestors were killed by the sword, and
their daughters and wives were also taken prisoner.
Hezekiah
again made a pact with God to bring change to his land. Like David, his
ancestor, he did what was right before God. Carry out special renovations
related to the House of God and reactivate Levitical priests according to their
roles. Hezekiah knew and believed that by doing all these things, the wrath of
God would be taken from the people. God will restore his kingdom.
If
we have been estranged from God throughout our lives, we must repent and make a
new covenant with God to fulfil our obligations and our portion that relates to
God’s words and commandments. Then we will fully recover and fulfil God’s
promise.
Enjoy
your activities, always be enthusiastic, and always put the Lord Jesus first.
May God bless our lives, family, work, and ministry. Amen…
