The Fruit Is What Matters

The fruit is what matters – The basis of God’s Word for the title of our meditation is taken from the Gospel of Luke. Thus says the LORD, “Every tree will be known by its fruit, for they will not pick figs from the thorns, nor will they pick grapes from the thorns” (Luke 6:44).

A pastor visits a church in a cornfield. The priest was amazed to admire the corn tree, which had produced so much fruit even though it had not yet had any. Hearing the praise, the congregation said, “Not necessarily, Pastor. The trees look like they are bearing fruit, but it is the fruit that counts.”

A week later, a recovery meeting was held in the village. Hundreds of people were astonished when they heard the preaching of the invited servant of God. “What a sermon!” praised the priest. Again, the congregation said, “Yes, preaching is good, but it is the fruit that matters.” Does everyone's heart want to accept the Word and grow and bear fruit, or not?

Jesus opened with the parable of the blind leading the blind to explain how to recognize a tree by its fruit. Jesus once said that the eyes are the torch of the body. The eyes judge everything. What we see and how we see it influences our thoughts and our whole lives.

If our eyes are right, our hearts are right too. If your heart is right, then your actions are right. Therefore, when a person displays the fruits of godliness in his daily deeds, it is a good indication of what kind of heart he has.

Of course, if you want to produce good fruit, start by “planting” a good tree. When you build your life on the truth, the fruit that comes out is the truth. Jesus Christ is the truth.

If Jesus really sits on a throne and his words guide our hearts, then Jesus must really guide our actions. It is clear that the fruit must come from the tree, namely our hearts.

Stay busy, keep the spirit, and always put the Lord Jesus first. May the Lord Jesus bless our lives, our families, our work, and our ministry. Amen…
